Join ATD St Louis for an Instructional Design Double Feature Event with Megan Torrance!

Event 1 - The Luncheon:

Agile Project Management for Instructional Design

Time: 11:30 - 1:00

Description: On time. In budget. What they need (even if that changes!). These are moving targets and yet, you're expected to deliver all three. The software development industry is embracing Agile project management to address these issues and there is much that we in learning & development can learn from them. Agile provides a framework for adapting to change as it happens and working with the project sponsor to deliver the content most needed by learners.

In this session, you'll learn about the Agile project management methods adapted specifically for instructional design & development projects — Lot Like Agile Management Approach (LLAMA®)—and how to use them on the job. We’ll cover everything from kicking off a project with a solid definition of scope all the way through the process of estimating and planning the work.

Event 2 - The Workshop:

 An Instructional Designer's Toolkit

Time: 1:30 - 5:00

Description: Are you stuck in a rut? New to your role? Not formally trained in instructional design and yet here you are? Just looking to tune up your instructional design skills? This toolkit is for you!

This session is full of useful techniques and practical tools you can use on the job tomorrow to get better results whether you’re designing for the classroom, the virtual classroom, elearning or an on-the-job learning experience. We call it the toolkit: handy instructional design techniques you can fall back on no matter what the situation. You’ll have an opportunity to use these tools in the workshop on a case study project, and take home digital copies.

Your takeaways include templates and techniques for goal alignment, learner personas, scope definition, iterative development, 9 moments of learning need, and 8 Ls of Evaluation.
