March Professional Development Luncheon: Creating the Workplace of the Future with Emotional Intelligence

Please join the ATD-STL for our March Professional Development Luncheon: Creating the Workplace of the Future with Emotional Intelligence.

Presentation:

Western thought has largely been shaped by an admiration of logic, as opposed to emotion. Descartes said, “I think, therefore I am.” Stoics like Marcus Aurelius taught that it is best to ignore feelings. Today, however, we have done a complete 180. Business leaders are prized for being multi-faceted and passionate. Emotional intelligence (EQ) has become more than a buzzword. Research has proven that EQ has a significant impact on occupational performance.

Attendees will walk away knowing:

  • The definition and origins of EQ and how it’s evolved in the workplace
  •  The business case for EQ and an understanding of how EQ contributes to the success of leaders, their employees, and their organizations
  • Qualities to look for in potential leaders and how to identify them
  • Tools to analyze and improve EQ skills to help high-performers use both emotions and logic for better performance
  • How to leverage the EQ-i 2.0 model as a method for recognizing, debugging, and diffusing irrational beliefs that could get in the way of professional productivity, performance, and profitability
Presenter
